Took my 12 year old nephew to the farm I hunt yesterday evening with the hopes of getting his first doe. Had two smaller does walk out into the field just before dark. Unfortunately nerves got the best of him and he missed with his first shot. The does ran about 50 yards away and stopped in the tree line. We were concealed pretty good and the wind was in our faces. About 10 mins later he saw both does come out of the trees and try to work back across the field. When he got back on his gun he was shaking like a leaf. I told him to watch them for a minute through his scope and control his breathing to settle down. When he finally relaxed I whispered to let it go whenever he was ready. A few seconds later he made a great double lung shot at 153 yards. She never took a step. I couldn't be prouder of him. He is a good kid, makes straight A's, plays basketball, and football, and is kind and respectful to everyone he meets.
