I decided to hunt a very small tract of land inside of a populated area of Murfreesboro. About 2:30 yesterday, I finished up work and decided to drop by the house and grab some camo and my trailer, smelling like Old Spice and wearing dirty camo that has just been sitting in my garage since the weekend! Typically, Im a scent freak, but Im starting to pay more attention to the wind than my smell. Anyways, I have not hunted thgis spot all season, its thick with scrub and trash trees, so climbing a stand is not much of aan option for me, plus someone would steal it! So, as I always do, I decided to take my turkey vest for added ground comfort. About 4pm three does come out into the edge of the field, next thing I know Im staring this monster in the face at 95 yards. Imshaking so bad, my scope recticle is on him / off him / on him / off...... Im praying to the good Lord to please let me get a shot at this deer. My first shot rolls out, deer just stands there ( skiunned him on top of shoulders). So now I know that this is a story no one would believe, Im shaking as a load the second round ( from the ground), aim, fire.... clear miss! He is just looking at me like , what the hell was that? Shaking bad now, last load, last primer, bryer patch seperates us aat 90 yards. I pray again to please give me a shot. At this point I have decided to wait on a good clean shot, but if he takes a step into the tree line, I will let my third and final round go. I wait, he stands, I shake, he stands, I pray, he steps.......BOOM! dropped like a rock!!!! Femoral artery shot in front of hind legs. I lost my marbles, hyperventilate, shake, tear up. I called my wife, she thought I was in a car wreck. It took me about 15 minutes to get myself together.
This deer came at a great time. I have began to loose interest in the last few years (but not anymmore)!!
