Savage is the only "stock" smokeless muzzleloader, but they aren't currently producing them to my knowledge so you would have to find a used one.

A lot of people have conversions. You can take a Remington 700 muzzleloader and have a customer barrel put on it that will take smokeless pressure. Or, you can take any single shot 45/70 rifle and have it drilled and tapped for a Savage breach plug. If interested in details, I would post it in the smokeless section here.

I have an Encore 45/70 conversion and love it.

Take your pick if you got deep pockets. The NULA is about the least expensive at $1800 and only weighs about 5lbs. I got one and would not trade it for any of them.

This is by far the cheapest route to go....the accuracy has been outstanding with these H&R Conversions.

Can it be made to hold a ramrod?
Not that I am aware of. Most pack a collapsable or screw together and have it at the ready after they set up.

How's the trigger on the H&R?
Some are good and some suck. They can be lightened up BUT only let a EXPERIENCED H&R guy do it!
They are easy to screw up by taking away to much material.
