looking for advice on curs

I will start off by saying I don't know a thing about curs. I am looking for the larger type cur that are silent on track. I want to hunt squirrels and coons. Any advice as to where to find some well bred pups? I have hounds that I hunt coons and bear with and I have been thinking about getting a cur dog to squirrel hunt with. Dad can't get around like he used to and I thought maybe he could still join me on a squirrel hunt.

I've been fooling with cur and feist for years, sold pups and have competition hunted all over the country. Take my advice, get on the origional mountain cur web sight and call around and find a started dog. It will cost more money but you will know exactly what your getting right then. Go hunting with the dog a couple times before you commit to buy. A good honest dog man will love for you to come try out a dog. If they won't stay away from them. Dog traders are worse than any horse trader. Allen Franklin. Carl Smith are two of the best old stock omcba breeders of all times. They would be where I'd start.

Thanks for the help. I know about them dog traders..lol learn that lesson a long time ago. I will probably take your advice and find a well started dog. Maybe even a finished one. If there's anyone is east tn that wouldn't mind me tagging along and spectating. I would appreciate it. I would like to see how a good cur is supposed to hunt. I would be willing to let the person come for a bear or coon hunt in return...lol not sure if I would be able to show a good hound though..lol

Just drove down there about a month ago and got one. He's turning out great so far
