I have an older Marlin Model 80 in need of some trigger work.
The gun has a light strike and fails to detonate the rounds. The rifle belonged to my grandfather and I want to be able to use it again.

Alaska or bust!
Before heading to a smith remove the wood and give the trigger section a good scrubbing with kerosene or diesel. Blow off the excess and see if the issue goes away. Older guns are often "gummed" up with dried oil or WD40. Do the same with the bolt if you can disassemble it. Dried oil on the firing pin can make the travel sluggish
