I've killed 2 bucks this year, and gave them both away. We don't eat a lot of deer meat, but I still wanted to put one in the freezer (I passed on TONS of does this year trying to score on the bucks). I got up this morning to give it one last shot - buck or doe - it didn't matter.

I got out to my spot in Wilson County, and it was reeeeaaaalllly muddy/soft. If I killed anything, I was going to have to drag it forever to get to my truck. No way I was going to chance getting stuck in some of those spots. (Santa, I need an ATV next year)

I saw one doe about 7:15. Part of me wanted to shoot. The other part was thinking about dragging her 1000 yards and crossing two creeks. I was tired of getting rained on and said the heck with it.

I've hunted more this year than any year previously - 34 hunts. Several of them were only 1.5-2 hours long... but I'm just flat burnt out.

If it isn't fun, I'm done. I'm cleaning up my stuff and packing it away.

Waiting on warmer weather. It's time to get back on the golf course.

Did you say bring on warm weather.... you won;t be getting your wish. it is going to be bitter cold Monday - Wed of next week. the only good thing about it is Deer season will be closed :( so I wont have to sit in it. I fell sorry for any duck hunters out there in that.

Haha! Yes, "force" was used rather loosely. The only reason I'm going, though, is because I know I'll be missing it for the next ten months.

Summertime and bucks in velvet hitting bean fields late in the evening get me pumped up. Probably wont miss deer season till the 100 day mark.

:D should have shot the doe and gave me a shout. Have 4-wheeler and rhino so you wouldn't risk getting that new truck stuck.

Just curious.. how deep of a creek can those Rhinos cross?
Probably 2-2 1/2' give or take. The air intake is where your elbow would rest beside the gear shifter so you just have to keep it above water. You'd be sitting in water at that point.

I get burned out on deer season by the end every year but I never get tired of cold weather to the point of looking forward to Summer and sweating and bugs and sunburns. I hate the Summer weather in the south! Even though I get burned out with deer hunting, as soon as season ends I get all sentimental about it and start looking forward to next season but I never have looked forward to Summer and warm weather.

Wish I had that kind of luck. Only have mountain land to hunt where I'm at. Tore up my knee in the army and this cold has just made it worse.16 hunts - 0 deer. Horrible year. Suppose I'm done.
