I've killed 2 bucks this year, and gave them both away. We don't eat a lot of deer meat, but I still wanted to put one in the freezer (I passed on TONS of does this year trying to score on the bucks). I got up this morning to give it one last shot - buck or doe - it didn't matter.
I got out to my spot in Wilson County, and it was reeeeaaaalllly muddy/soft. If I killed anything, I was going to have to drag it forever to get to my truck. No way I was going to chance getting stuck in some of those spots. (Santa, I need an ATV next year)
I saw one doe about 7:15. Part of me wanted to shoot. The other part was thinking about dragging her 1000 yards and crossing two creeks. I was tired of getting rained on and said the heck with it.
I've hunted more this year than any year previously - 34 hunts. Several of them were only 1.5-2 hours long... but I'm just flat burnt out.
If it isn't fun, I'm done. I'm cleaning up my stuff and packing it away.
Waiting on warmer weather. It's time to get back on the golf course.
