My brother sent me this pic that was taken last year on Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge. It was taken while guy was coon hunting.

Personally never seen anything resembling a large cat or tracks but a few years back one was on trailcam up Union City way and man, he was a muscled up brute.

We did have two mountain lions make it into TN from the northwest (they follow river systems down into the Southeast from the Plains). However, they left and haven't been seen since 2016. And there is no such thing as a black mountain lion. Black-phase leopards, yes, but not black mountain lions. And you're not going to find a leopard very far from the Mexico border.

The cat in the pic would be a melanistic leopard. The only possibility for a black cat of that size would be a melanistic jaguar, and we are quite a ways off from their northernmost range. You can tell it's a leopard from the head/neck structure and the tail. Jaguars are much thicker and heavier than leopards, particularly at the head/shoulder area. Their tail is also very thick. There is also no such thing as a "black panther" in America, no matter what anyone's uncle's best friend's papaw saw. Unless of course you're speaking of a certain social faction of anti-white racists. Cool pic though!
