Hammerstone?

There's a ridge at my hunting lease that's full of flint/chert. I have found a few points and scrapers in the food plots but on the ridge I found a round creek rock on top of the ground while blood trailing a buck that I shot. I'm pretty certain that it's a hammerstone since there's no other explanation for a round rock to be up on a ridge 1/2 mile from the creek. It's roughly 3" in diameter and 1 3/4" thick. Opinions?

And, yes, it looks like a baking tater :D

If that rock was found on the side of a ridge then yes it's some kinda tool. Good find.

How big do these things get? I found one in middle TN that looked exactly like this but probably weighted at least ten pounds.
Some can be huge, needing to be used with two hands, especially the ones found at known quarry sites. When spalling from nodules, larger and better shaped flakes can be removed using bigger hammer stones.

Mass removes mass.
