I prefer the dehydrator over oven, You are supposed to dry the meat, not cook it.

A oven set on *200 with a spoon proping the door oven dryies the meat. Either way the meat COOKS. You do need to watch the oven closer.I used a dehydrator for around 25 years and always cut strips of whole meat. About 5 years ago I switched over to ground meat and the oven .I had to make the change to meet the demand for Jerky gifts. As long as you check and turn your meat and take it out at the right time either way works well. A dehydrator is great if you want to put ALITTLE jerky on and cook it all day without watching it much. The oven is the way to go to make alot of jerky in a short period of time. If you have alittle time to watch it closely. I have about twenty pounds cooked/dried/and bagged up .I made it in 2 different evenings .It's on the way to the post office in a alittle while.
