After a fairly uneventful 3 hours in the stand this morning, I took the bow just in case and did a little scouting. I didn't count but probably found at least 2 dozen fresh rubs of various sizes. Here are some nicer ones. I think I got a new stand site picked out.

Looks like you found his path of travel
yep, and it's a small strip of woods too, keeps em concentrated, lots of fresh tracks, and droppings that were still green.

You've got an old guy running that area. Good luck getting him!
that's what I thought. Mudbone pointed out to me that it takes more neck muscle than rack size to make a big rub. Hope to see the big boy, and hope not to screw up and run him across the creek onto another large property

Yup, rub size is all about age, not antler size.

good luck. I wouldnt mind finding a good thing like that. I walked around after climbing down with the bow the other day and never once found a rub. I found a few last year though.

Same here.

When the jaw bones from my buck are ready I want to see if you still think he's 5.5 after holding them in person. If he was a spike I'd have shot him anyway because I knew he was older than the 2 yearlings I saw that day. I only thought he was 2 or 3 though, guess a first time field judging a big buck ain't the same as studying trail can pics, which I have gotten fairly good at.
