When's the ideal date range in your experience in Hardeman Co? Or does it matter so long as it's between now and last expected freeze? I hunt in this Hardeman Co as well...
Anytime from now til the freeze thaw cycle finishes. Sowed on top of snow vs not on snow the tweety birds will get some so keep that in mind too.

Since then, I've found frost seeding gives about 25% established plant per seed compared to drilling in late Aug/ Sept.

Yes, it does work, and better than nothing. But not even close to drilling clover in prepped plots in fall during normal rainfall years...

A dry fall like this year, and frost seeding may save some clover plots with the way the freeze cycles are shaping up.

We usually target February for this. We spray once it starts getting warmer - usually April-may. Spray again in early fall. Take a look at this podcast, particularly the 12-20 minute mark:
