Nickajack Dam.. bring big catfish rigs.

You will catch alot of big cats, and drums too. We always bring another smaller pole and catch skipjack.

I've always used the skipjack. Just cut them into peices and go at it.

I use 3oz. sinkers cause the generators will push your bait straight to the bank.

Put your sinker on the bottom of your line, come up about 1ft. tie off your hook so your lure won't be on the bottom. The sinker will hit the bottom and make the bait look like its swimming.

If you will send RSimms a PM he can point ya in the right direction for smallies and other fish.

For smallmouth fishing, find your way below Chickamauga Dam on the East or Amnicola Hwy. side. Beneath the Dam you'll see a rusty railroad bridge. Beginning at the RR bridge, the is a gravel bar that goes about 150 yard (give or take).
That is the best shoreline smallmouth spot you'll find anywhere. Artificials work... but you can buy live shiners at Jack's Bait & Tackle nearby. They're pretty easy to keep alive when it's cold.
But generation schedules greatly affect fishing there... if they're generating too much, it's almost impossible to fish effectively from shore.
