I hit the crow call for an entire mile trying to locate but nothing. I used my slate call to pur and strut as i walked for another mile to mimic turkey movement. When i stopped a hen had followed me and poked her head up to see what was up. This began my excitement.... I decided to sneak back up the mountain to set up and heard other hens purring , but never saw them, when i got halfway up i was standing behind a tall pine when this one gobbled 20 yards ahead of me! I never even saw him until he started heading down towards me. I quickly pocketed my slate and readied my 835 up against the tree and he waltzed right into my ironsights at 10 yards in the the pine thicket. What an experience! I now know why some prefer this over crack cocaine lol!

That's a great hunt for your first bird.

Well done!

Enjoy the afterglow for as long as you can, because there will be times when everything seems perfect, but something prohibits success.
