The issue you are going to have is the northern portion of AL is going to open later in the season. From Nashville I can get to Brent, AL in 3.5 hours+or- a few minutes. Season usually opens mid March, so you get a 2 week head start over TN. Plenty of places to camp on the NF and I think some of the WMA's have camping spots.

In AL you can also purchase a 3 day tag, 10 tag, or year long...makes it a little more affordable. My recent trip cost around $225 and that included tag, food, and gas. Two of us went and split food/gas.
