Ive been busy,or its been to wet, whenever I have had a chance. Finally worked out yesterday afternoon, maybe will get to do some spraying next weekend I hope. Before
I also got to some chores on the food plots. Bush hogged several acres last Wednesday morning and then sprayed them all with gly Sunday morning. Labor Day weekend will be the time I disc and get the oats, wheat and clover out.... Feels good - I can smell hunting in the air!
We're trying something different this year. Considering how wet the summer has been so far, we're going to put in our fall food plots in two stages. We did half the plots this last weekend and we will plant the other half in mid-September. This provides less chance of adverse weather conditions wiping out all the newly seeded plots at once. Plus, with two plantings a month apart, that will spread out the time when newly germinated plants are available to deer (which is often when they are the most desirable).
