Instead of highjacking the other threads to state my opinion I decided to create my own...

first off let me start with the 2 buck rule...the state has decided that this is the route that they want to take with the deer herd in Tennessee. Now whether that is the right decision or not the fact of the matter is that if you agree, or disagree, your issue should be taken up with the state and not with your fellow hunters! You first off are not going to change a single thing going off on people who hold a different disposition than yourself. If you are angry enough and truly believe this is the wrong decision, then put in the footwork to make a change! I can guarantee that it will not happen fighting like school girls on TNDEER...

Secondly is the whole "trophy hunter, meat hunter" feud that is like a cancer around here...it just finds its way into every thread it seems like. You know i hear a lot of skewed viewpoints from both sides of the isle on this topic and ultimately I think that what you think should be just that...WHAT YOU THINK!!! I dont understand why we cant be happy for another hunter for killing what they consider a trophy, regardless if its a spike or a 150" buck, and simply offer congratulatory comments? Why is there constantly the need to undermine someone who stands in opposition to you? Some people call it being passionate and outspoken to target those who stand by a different thought pattern than you but personally I think its a sign of weakness! We hunt deer because we love to do so...do you think it right to belittle another individual for doing exactly that? Hunting because he loves it? Heres a crazy idea...find the common thread that all of us on here SHARE the love of hunting deer! Lets be supportive instead of destructive...its kinda like this...we men all like women (maybe LOL) but if I like one type of women and you gravitate towards another does that make you any more right in your choice than me? No we simply have different tastes but we can share the common thread of liking women!

I understand this thread will probably not change a single thing around here because as long as there are people on the earth there will be different ideas, and as long as there are different ideas in the heads of people there will be the inevitable few who feel the need to impose their ideas on others...Freedom affords us the opportunity to have those different opinions and respect is the barrier that keeps us from crossing the line into tyrannical activism!

I love some sarcasm and the whole 2 buck limit was funny the first 10 times but now it's just getting old when your hi jacking other people's thread. Now if you start a new thread about the 2 buck limit then it gives those that choose not to discuss it and option of not reading it.

Enough is enough, I agree.

However, you need to do a little fact checking on your statement about the buck limit.

Yep, and TWRA did not decide this, the Commission dictated it. I'll just shoot the 3 deer I need to fill the freezer and then duck hunt :)

Well from what I understand the TWRC made the decision to change the buck limit to 2...correct me if I'm wrong but that is an entity of the state isn't it? Please enlighten me if that's not the case or if there is another aspect to the buck limit that you were reffering to. Thanks

That's why I post anything from a dead spotted fawn to a forkhorn to a nice 8pt or even the big 10 pt that I let walk for next year. Because it's about hunting and not meeting everyone else's standards. I like to see what everyone here kills, and I like to share mine as well. You don't like what I killed, that's fine, it's not your deer. I hate seeing people make excuses for their buck not being the biggest or calling a young buck "freezer meat" to avoid backlash from trophy hunters... I used to get butthurt when people talked bad about my kill but after a while I come to realize that it's an Internet forum and there will be some trash sometimes and it shouldn't keep you from sharing your kill that you are happy with.

Great Post.

However unlike Catman, if I shoot a small buck (which i haven't in a while) I just won't post it, because I'm not gonna listen to a bunch of BS from people that think I shouldn't have done it. 99.99% chance that you wouldn't ever encounter nor hunt the deer being shot, so why do care if it is dead, or would have been better next year???

Oh and if your answer to my question is "we need to get people to change their mindsets" then you have proven the OP's point.... Just say congrats and keep rolling.

TWRA(and the biologists within) reported their recommendation to the TWRC, that the buck limit remain the same, and then were directed to go back, and come up with a 2 buck limit proposal. The commission overrode the TWRA's findings.

Here is who set the buck limit...the TWRC. They are the governing body over the TWRA who disagreed with the 2 buck limit. They are appointed by the governor and are a state of Tennessee entity responsible for the issue stated above. Again guys your issue should be taken to the governor if you are so angry about the 2 buck rule! http://www.tennesseehunters.net/twrc/te ... ssion.html

The commission is nothing more than volunteers. While they are appointed by the governor, they are not "The State". The people employed by the state, those that wear the uniform every day and represent The State, did not propose a limit reduction.

I understand where you are coming from, but you need to be specific. The commission decided on the limit reduction. While they are a part of the state, they are not The State. Your statement was much too broad and allowed for to much misunderstanding.

I know that sounds petty and argumentative, but I think it is important for everyone to know who made the decision. It wasn't those trained to make the decision, it wasn't those that are in the field every day collecting the data, it wasn't those that put their lives on the line every day to protect our natural resources. It was a bunch of people with pockets deep enough to draw the attention of the governor and to get appointed to a board that answers to no one and has no educational or experience requirement to serve on that board.

Great post and I respect your opinion. I think of folks want to go on and on about buck limits or whether they are meat hunters versus trophy hunters then let them talk. This is a forum for hunters to express their opinions. As long as folks are respectful then this is what the forum is about. When folks are disrespectful it hurts everyone. As an example, there were some disrespectful comments toward BSK and now a very knowledgeable expert is gone. So go ahead and express your opinions but be respectful of people with different opinions. Please!

that's funny, I can't understand why everyone is butthurt over bsk taking his ball and going home? He belittled more people because they had a different opinion than his, than anyone I've seen and yes enough is enough :stir:
