I think this has been discussed here, but is it getting close? Is it a better time to hunt them when this is going on? What calls?

Yes february is breeding season and calling always picks up for me then.
Most of the ones we are calling are still solos, very few pairs. February is typically breeding season, although I have killed females in heat in january
we found a den of pups in early april last year. there were 8 of them.
