Put in at the river park ramp off amnicola hwy. my buddy just went down there few days ago bream fishing and said the stripe were jumping good early. And there is a ton of bait up close to the dam

Thinking about going drifting below chickamauga dam and was wondering if there was a close by spot to buy tuffies or shiners? And where is best place to put in. Thanks.
Yes, have several others have mentioned, Jack's Bait & Tackle is your best place and it's very convenient to Chickamauga Dam. I'd suggest this as your best launch point: https://goo.gl/maps/4C8ZAeCbZyB4gJ5r8

Not sure how soon you're coming but recent heavy rains have increased predicted flow rates substantially:https://www.tva.com/Environment/Lake-Levels/Chickamauga That's good and bad news. Fish are generally much more cooperative with high flow, but depending upon your preferred technique, the high flow can make it more difficult to fish.

Thanks for info. Fished a few tailwaters on Tennessee river and other dams. Just never been there.

Is 40-45k too much? I know it's not for some dams but others it would be. Thinking of coming down and drifting below the dam on Monday.

It's never really "too much." Again, it simply depends on your preferred style of fishing. If you like drift fishing up near the Dam (with shiners), yes, 45K is too much. But farther downstream it is doable. But when current is high, many folks concentrate on seams and current breaks - areas where fish will go to seeking refuge from the heavier current. I know some bass guys who love it when flood gates are open and it's running 60-70K. They say it can really concentrate bass into smaller areas and pockets out of the current.
