Lump Charcoal,,,,,and Never use lighter fluid.....

YES!!!

The worst thing anybody can do to charcoal is use lighter fluid. [/

Whats the best way to start charcoal without lighter fluid?quote]

Use a charcoal chimney. Put some newspaper at the bottom and light it. It will take a while for the charcoal to burn.

Having said that, I just use lighter fluid. :D But I will get a charcoal chimney.

This is what I use.

I also use these instead of newspaper. They are NOT the same as putting the starter fulid on the charcoal. Only the flame reaches the charcoal and there is no taste or smell from these.

That's sort of what my dad uses. He got one a few years ago at the Sportsman's Warehouse that was bigger than your average charcoal chimney.

I have a smaller one, I just don't use it much. I will get a better built one and use it.

Its worth the extra $7 to get the weber chimney.
Had the cheapie generic chimney and it took 30-40 minutes to start a batch of coals.

With the weber it takes about 15 minutes.

Works even better with natural lump charcoal. Oh check out the Publix greenwise natural lump charcoal. Pretty good stuff and it is a little cheaper than Cowboy natural lump charcoal.
