My brother in Laws dad was traded out of two knives prob 20 years back by a young man who said his dad found this in his garden near Scottsboro alabama. Looks almost mayan to me but i know nothing about such artifacts. a wonderful piece. Anyone recognize anything about this?

Kirklands shop in Jackson Tn has those for about $5.00 plus tax during their after christmas sale, theirs are clay, the tarnished brass are about 8 bucks each

shell tempered clay, most likely pre-columbian piece from Peru, appears to be of Mocha origin. If it had been a Mississippian piece, would have most likely been potter's ferry clay which is black when fired into a solid.

Definitely not from Alabama. I would lean towards a repro but you need to have it checked out to make sure before letting it go. Looks S. American but could be "new" or old. But NOT originally from Alabama.
