I've built a few. Looks like you've got the makings for a fine Tennessee mountain rifle.
The first thing I'd recommend is to join the American longrifle forum:
http://www.americanlongrifles.com/. Tons of info on this site. The gun building forum is frequented by some great builders across the country and for the most part are not shy about helping out a newbie.
Also get yourself some good books on building. There are quite a few good ones out there and I can recommend this one because I have it:
http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categorie ... 1/BOOK-RAL. The Track of the Wolf catalog is also worth the money not only because of all the parts they offer but the photos are great, with many actual size.
Finally, take your time and study before you make that first cut. There's no worst feeling than getting in a hurry and making a bad cut and ruining your stock(I know, I've done it).
Good luck and if you need any advice give me a shout.
