Not that I've experienced. If kept in a temperature and humidity controlled environment, it seems to be very stable. I've used open containers from previous seasons with pretty consistent results in velocity and accuracy.

Still great advice on keeping it cool & dry.
I've got some fresh 209 but I got a canister from 2009 that has sat on a shelf in my garage. If I get motivated, I'll go shoot some loads over my chronograph and see if there are significant velocity changes.

If a man shoots 20 shots a year including BH209 , sabot and bullets it's still around the same price as most premium cartridge loads. Maybe cheaper. So there is that.Or over $2 a shot just for powder.
But it keeps selling.

Almost all of the Arkansas Walmarts has it. Dont think its selling too fast. Its Bad when bass pro is cheaper than Walmart on powder.
Everyone is fussing about the cost of blackhorn, has anyone compared cost shot to shot with pellets? Blackhorn is comparable when figured that way.
Someone at Blackhorn has been doing some calculating looks like.
Last pellets I seen were around $35/50. $70/100. And it takes at least 2 pellets, if not 3 per shot. Blackhorn is a bit more, but at 84 gr, which is a max load, you'll get about 40 shots per jug. Last blackhorn I seen was $72 a jug. If you don't shoot max loads with blackhorn, it's nearly the price.Someone at Blackhorn has been doing some calculating looks like.
I found a jug yesterday for $60 so I grabbed it. That gives me 5 cans, when I looked my first two were priced at $21.99 for 10oz and those are the ones I'm using now. They still ignite easily and velocity hasn't fallen off.
I was originally going to convert a 45/70 to smokeless but I've changed my mind as I have 2 that shoot great with bh209 and 4 cans will do me for a long time.

Goex (real) black powder is (now) $24 a pound…
Probably takes me 15 minutes too clean my gun after an extended round of shooting… 15-20 shots..
I just couldn't justify paying $166 a pound for powder…. Maybe I shoot too much.
Or I'm just cheap!
