Oh my. He would have had the record anyway more than likely. Crazy. How about a little respect for the game we pursue.

This is a reason I could care less about records and trophies. I hunt/fish for my enjoyment, not others.
Makes no sense. Not a dozen people in the state care about who caught the biggest crappie. Now i do admire those who can consistently fill the cooler, but size is just chance

Just another issue caused by the "industry" that has formed around what we love. Everyone knows a record catch can lead to all sorts of free gear, sponsorships, and likely even some financial boosts if you play the opportunity right. Thus causing people to do stuff like this.
And how many times have tournament anglers been caught cheating? Stuffing weights in fish, keeping fish in an underwater cage overnight. I even saw a story about anglers clipping a half inch off the tail of bass because tournament entries couldn't be above a certain length. It's a shame how the industry has caused people to treat our resources.
