10-year-old Palmer Tipton caught the new state record cutthroat trout, according to TWRA. The fish weighed 4-pounds, 12-ounces, beating the previous record by more than two pounds.

Of course it is a relatively new stocked fish. TWRA begin stocking cutthroats in a few spots in 2021. Palmer's record may not last long, but we'll see?

More info on cutthroat trout here.

That's a sure nuff biggun!! Congrats to the young man. They stocked a bunch of cut throats in the Hiwassee a year or so ago. I took my buddy up there for his first time trout fishing the Hiwassee. I had said on the way up that I'd like to catch one of the cutthroats because I haven't caught one yet. His first trout...guess what it was. I've still yet to catch one.
