Central west coast of Florida, but hunt SE Tn.
I have a Tikka T3 7/08 headed my way. I also have the following factory ammo en route because I wont have time to work up any loads before season opens so store bought will have to do. Besides I can always use the cases. :)

120g Nosler BT
139g Honaday Interlock
139g Horaday SST

140g is absent because it wasn't available at the several sources I tried. Is there any other you might recommend as a must try factory ammo?

TIA

i had good luck with the SST superformace in mine. I wanted to shoot the Accubond but couldn't find them when i went to the range. I was shooting mine from a Howa 1500. I shot the interlocks and SST and the SST did a bit better in mine.

I had a lot of success with 140 gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertips before I started reloading. I haven't seen them on the shelves for a long while now though.

If we didn't reload I'd shoot corelokts. It's rare to find a gun they don't shoot good in and have been very effective for a lot of deer over the years. Plus it's usually pretty easy to find and less $$ than most.

The line I had on all of the ammo I had listed before fell through, meanwhile I have been able to order the following:

I box 140g Rem Core Lokt
1 box 140g Federal Fusion

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would really like to try all I can. Anyone have anything they want to part
I have a box of Hornady SST 139g I could be persuaded to part with.

Best shooting factory ammo I've ever tried...
It was on sale two weeks ago for $30.00 a box.

About 4-5 years ago Field & Stream rated these and the Barnes TSX one of the best bullets made for whitetail. I tried finding them then but couldn't, so I looked the Barnes, found them, and have had great luck with them in the TSX 140g.

For recoil reasons I started my daughter on the Remington 120gr HP's, but man they are wicked. She killed every deer she ever shot at with them. I killed multiple deer with the gun as well as a couple hogs.

I changed to the Barnes two years ago, I'm not saying they wont do the trick, but she plowed a giant buck on the youth hunt, and we never found a drop of blood. Every deer since then has died a quick death. Ill never know why that one deer didnt fall over...very odd.

Very Odd....
I have never had one go more than 30yards and total pass thru as well with the Barnes TSX

Tell me about it, 4 hours of searching later I was as stumped as ever. It CRUSHED me to not find that deer for her.

Wasn't there a period of time when the Barnes bullets were reported as losing directional stability and hitting some animals sideways? This was at least 3 years ago. Also, some were disintegrating on contact and fragments were being found far from point of impact?

I know something was up with Barnes a few years back because I was looking to do some hunting in California in 2011 and my BIL told me to not use Barnes bullets.

I met with 7mm08 yesterday and acquired some ammo. I think I have enough on hand to get started. Thanks 7mm08, I enjoyed our meeting and conversation. Pleasure to do business with ya.
Thanks also to the many others who offered suggestions. I hope to let ya'll know what my rifle likes soon.
