2016 grossed 150" with 9 points. Main 8 point frame mid 140's.

Not 150".....but a main frame 8 around 130 We had 3 years history with him.....lost sleep over this one.
Isn't it crazy how differently a buck can score once he's on the ground? From that picture, I would have thought he scored considerably higher than 130.

Had one like that a few years ago. Also a 3 year history with him. Finally killed him last day of December when he was 5 1/2 years old. I thought he would score high even as a 7-point (every year was missing his left browtine). But he only grossed 130.

Solid mature buck! Love the wide rack and big body....very rewarding to catch up with a mature buck that you have a history with.

When you only have 8 points to score, getting to 150" has to come from somewhere else, either an exagerrated spread or insane mass or both. A 130 class 8pt is as impressive (or more so) as any 150" 10pt I've ever seen. A 150" 8pt usually dwarfs 10's of similar score. You wouldn't think two tines makes that much difference but it sure does. That buck you got is a brute and would not look a bit out of place on a wall of giants. No doubt he was king of the woods!

If I remember correctly, a study of bucks making B&C found, on average, 70% of their score came from tine length. When it comes to adding up score, tine length is everything.
