I really hope my winter flock here in Dickson county broke up. If not, aliens got them.

I suspect we have a baiter nearby. I just hope they know season has been pushed back.

... but that's normal. Most years winter flocks dont break up into subflocks until last week of March. Subflocks further break into their final breeding flocks April 10th or so.
Exactly.

Also, as to some seeing single gobblers, might be there just aren't enough in the area to be flocked up :(

Many years I've had some large acreage areas (several hundred acres) with no Longbeards whatsoever between deer season and mid-April. Then some just magically appear.

Believe Longbeards often do a greater distance seasonal range shift than do deer bachelor groups.

Neighbor sent me this picture this evening from her barnyard, she counted 33 but couldn't tell how many Toms was in the group.

As the infamous HogGuide once said a few years ago after seeing a pic like that of birds in middle TN, "Shoot me! No, shoot me!"

He was comparing the number of birds in middle TN compared to the eastern side.

I see flocks like that almost daily. The toms often out number the hens and you can figure out the reasoning.. Usually find more birds in pressured flocks I see but ratio is much heavier to hens. I would think 1:1 ratio would be healthiest but I rarely see it.

Unreal hatch 2 years ago and a really good hatch last year. Numbers are looking pretty dang strong this year. I've seen more birds all across Giles and Lawrence counties than I've seen in 10+ years.

Just got off a high ridge in Maury cty close to the Giles line. Only heard 2 far off birds.. Could be the weather but the area USED to be loaded...

Stewart county Tn and Trigg county ky I am beginning to see a few single's scattered about. Still plenty in larger groups but finding those outliers is my thing.
Many around here wear them out calling to them before season. Put your call away and scout, watch and listen. Those singles out there are the birds many of you do not know exist. Humans have taught them to not gobble
