I'm not going to go crazy with daily posts, but today my season officially began. With the lousy winter weather we've had, I've mostly been a freelance writer the last two or three months. I've sort of been on an extended leave (from fishing). But my leave is over. It is balls to the wall for the coming weeks (or months).
I headed out today with Alice Daugherty and her son, Carpenter, from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I was worried. Lake conditions are far less than optimum right now. With 175,000 CFS pouring through Chickamauga Dam, current on the lake is absolutely crazy! Today we split our time up between crappie and catfish. It wasn't wild & wooly but they caught enough of each that they just BARELY squeezed all the fish in their cooler. Carpenter is a budding chef, headed to culinary school next year. His Mom said she could count on some outstanding fish dinners in their future. That means life is good and gettin' better everyday!
