    I Cheated.

Pork fat. I like old style sausage so I only grind it once.

    I Cheated.

    And done.

    I Cheated.

I also lied. Not waiting until tomorrow to smoke them.

    I Cheated.

I normally make my own sausage seasoning mix. I always considered that part of making "real" sausage. However, I will admit AC Legg has some very good pre-made mixes. For this batch I cheated and used their smoked jalapeno mix. Eight pounds of venison, two pounds of pork fat, 5.6 ounces of...

    Serious question Bass or Crappie

Crappie. But that's just me. Bass bore me. Can't help it. Catfish would come in second if I just wanted to catch something.

    Lucky Lure

Tiny Fluke. It's about 3 inches long. Everything hits it. Crappie, bass, white bass, catfish, gar, stripers, hybrids...if I'm in a fishing mood and don't care what hits, I'm throwing one of those. Typically on a 1/16th ounce head. Maybe 1/8th.

Lures you have no confidence in?

Hate typical spinner baits but love inline spinners. Never have liked top water lures.

    Fresh shrimp question

I do eat the tails. Good flavor in those. At bare minimum I save those for stock.

    Surprise, Surprise, Surprise...

1870s - 1907. I haven't dug very deep on the specifics of this one, but Erie markings stopped in 1907 at the latest best I can tell. I'll have to do some more checking.

    Surprise, Surprise, Surprise...

A friend of mine from work messaged me a while back asking if I wanted some of her father's old cast iron cookware. They just didn't have a use for it anymore and she knew I liked to clean this stuff up. I started with the biggest skillet and as soon as I started knocking the soot off, I got a...

    When Hobbies and Breakfast Collide

Homemade Applewood smoked ham from a Decatur County pig cooked up in a rescued and restored Griswold iron skillet from a Fayetteville lady's yard sale. I do love when a plan comes together.

    Iron skillet

Lots of variables there, but Field Skillet Company is putting out excellent iron skillets. They're proud of them, but they are also exceptional. Smooth finish. Lightweight. Excellent seasoning. Otherwise, I'd start checking some antique shops or Facebook marketplace for old Wagner or Griswold...

Boat Ramps - Decatur/Perry County Area

I appreciate it, guys. That's a bigger help than you realize.

Boat Ramps - Decatur/Perry County Area

I'm admitting my ignorance and asking for advice on which ramps you'd recommend to access the river in the Decatur/Perry County area. When I was younger I'd fish the area near Perryville Marina with my grandfather, but we stopped going when his health failed and I haven't been on the river in...

Putting a Transducer on a Terrova

Long story short, I'm putting lipstick on a pig. I still have my grandfather's boat. It's not fancy, but I like it. My options are limited with it. The Terrova has a 12 volt option and it's just simpler to stick with that with the style (Lazy) of fishing I do. Anyway, I'm not looking to upgrade...
