That's exciting news!

We just had a Tom and two hens walk by the front porch so I don't know what's going on here in NW TN based on that.

This year we purposefully have not mowed every area we normally mow and have seen more deer and a lot more turkey in these areas close to the house.

2 seperate Hens here at house have had poults since mid to late April, first one, week of 19th, second one, week of 26. Both Hens running together now. Started out with 17 between them. Still holding strong as of 2 days ago at 14. Lots of setting Hens up in NF. Monday, May 1rst, saw 2, quail size, dead on shoulder of Forest Road. Look like they had been run over or maybe trampled. Were horse tracks up and down shoulder as well.

Just saw a hen beside the road protecting about 10 from the rain. She was right beside the road and backed up thinking something was wrong with her. She stood up showing the poults under her so we drove away to keep them from scattering. They looked like they had just hatched in the last day or so. Lots of rain here today so hope they can survive the weather and predators. These are the first I've seen here in several years. Actually this year is the first turkeys I've seen here in the last several years.

My son-in-law just about got his butt whipped….it was a "catch and release" encounter.

Relax guys. He wasn't being mean or cruel. This one had wandered through an open gate and into their fenced in dog run. He caught it and was getting it back to momma before letting their German Sheppards loose….

Lot of hay being cut this week around here, ive heard of several hens being chopped up refusing to flee the nest, i would say we are a few days shy of major hatch days here hopefully hay is thin enough most will be seen before being mowed down
Thank you for reminding me of something I was supposed to do Monday...texted our farming friends to let them know to grab eggs for us if they run over any hens. We'll incubate them and raise them and give them back as a turkey for Thanksgiving.
