I received some bass pro gift cards for Christmas and bday and am looking to use those to purchase a new deer rifle(308). I'm looking to spend $700-800. I've looked at what Bass Pro offers and read some reviews and just can't make up my mind which one to go with. Looking for some recommendations.

Here's what they offer in my price range:
Ruger American Rifle
Remington 700 ADL
Weatherby VS2
Browning AB3
Savage 110 VSX Hunter
Winchester XPR
Bergara B-14

In addition to the Bergara B14 Hunter or Ridge in .308, I would look at the CVA Cascade in .308. I will say that the Bergara's I have seen tend to shoot heavier bullets better so if you are looking to shoot 150's, it may not be the best option.

I would take the Savage or the Ruger, and probably the savage for the detachable magazine. I'd kick the Remington 700 because it doesn't have a floor plate. Otherwise, I'd take a Remington 700 over any of them. But I don't know that we know yet how the quality of the 700's will be with the new owners.

I'd recommend the Savage or the Ruger American.
What caliber are you going after?
Oh, now I see where you said 308, that's my fav round btw.

bergara rifles are pretty sweet... have a B14 hunter in 7mm-08 that is the bees knees... I'm also a tikka fan, one of the blued models would fall in your price range, and they shoot very well in my experience... but the bergara soft touch stock is hard to beat, good luck on your purchase

I'd also look at the Remington 783. Bass Pro has it, and you could put a high quality scope on it and still be at a decent price.

I've never seen one, I just saw a couple of articles doing a comparison on them and the 700. If I needed to stay within a certain price, I'd give them a look.
