I'm gonna go with B+

If they would have won that Pittsburgh or Ole Miss game I would have went A. Seven wins was a nice year 1.

The talent he got from the Transfer portal was really nice. The team seems completely bought in besides Bailey & Evens has anyone else left?

Getting Hooker back is Huge, will they Talk Cade into staying.

2022 class setting around 15 some say UT could add 5-7 more just from the Transfer portal. Seems like alot.

I do hate the timing of Bailey and Evans leaving. If they had waited until now, we could have replaced them through the portal. I don't totally understand all the number games as far as scholarship numbers and how many we are allowed to take in the portal and high school commits. It gets pretty deep if you start studying it

With your grade on Heupel, I agree with everything you said. He exceeded everyone's expectations and made a statement for himself and his team

I think he definitely did more with less and while 7 wins doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy it exceeded what I thought would happen. Now he has to get the recruits in and consistently get better every year so they're competing for the SEC East, SEC, and then back in National talks. It won't happen overnight but like where it seems to be heading. Time will tell. GBO! 🍊

I'll say a B. He beat everyone he was supposed to beat, and if Hooker starts against Pitt, I think that becomes a W. The Ole Miss game was competitive. The Florida loss is really disappointing now that we know how bad they were. The offense is obviously a huge improvement. I don't follow recruiting like a lot of you do, but if he can recruit and build some depth the future is bright.

Just imagine if Hooker starts against Pitt and they pull out the Ole Miss game. He was just a couple plays away from 9-3 in his first year. That would've been stellar. I guess I'm just happy that they beat everyone they were supposed to beat. We've watched Botch Jones and Pruitt lose games they should've won too many times.

The schedule really sets up nice for him next season.

Rematch with pitt, you know UT wants that game.

A rebuilding UF team in Neyland then they get 2 weeks to prepare for LSU that will be a fun match up.

You know your a VOL fan when you have UF, UGA, Bama and LSU in a 6 game stretch and you think to yourself well that schedule isn't to bad compared to years past.

They couldn't score with Pruitt at the helm and they are scoring a lot under Heupel. They still need a defense. I will give Heupel a low B because he is responsible for both sides of the ball. With a decent defense and Hooker playing all season I think they could have won 10 games.

I think the defense was ok. For 3 quarters of every game. There just wasn't any depth and the hurry up offense gave them no rest. But you are correct. He is responsible for both sides of the ball. That's why I said he should've slowed the offense down at times when the defense was gassed. I was tarred and feathered for that comment.

From where we've been and with what he had to work with,

A++++++++
Agree. The guy came in to the most "cupboards are bare" situation I can recall. He had the kids that remained playing to the peak of their abilities, as a team, and winning ball games . I think he did way more than anyone on the outside believed he could in year one.

ESPN gives him an A-

I thought about it.

I wish he could have seen hooker was the better QB week 1. UT would be setting at 8-4, and he would have gotten a A from me. Glad he was smart enough to make the change when he did.

When you realized the roster he took over 7 wins is real dang impressive Alot of "Experts" had UT at 5 wins.

He got the starting QB, back up QB, starting HB, a starting WR and key pieces on defense from the portal 7-8 months before the season started just to have a chance.

Very good with what he had to work with. Let's see if it continues. Alot of new coaches schemes work for a year or two and then don't work after other good coaches learn to adjust and counter., Then that's were the good coaches shine they can counter back and adjust to get the leg up.

His gonna have no problem getting offensive weapons.

4* HB just signed.

3 offesive linemen already signed today including a 4*

I think they got 4 or so decent looking WRs committed.

4* QB 100% locked down.

Hooker set to return, Cade said he will make his decision by Xmas.

I have a feeling they will get a good surprise before this class is over with.
