I let my yamaha big bear sit too long so cleaned carb, replaced needle. It starts and runs fine but will back fire, sputter and quit. If I run it on reserve it runs fine. Almost like it doesn't get fuel when gas is on but does on reserve. Any ideas on why this is? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if its set up similar to a bear tracker....
Check the boot where the carb goes into the manifold. Its common for that boot to wear and a little gap to open between the carb and intake manifold.
Take seat & tank off to get to the mounting bolts, loosen clamp on the boot and shove the carb forward into the boot a bit more, tighten clamp and mounting bolts. If the boot is too worn you will have to replace it.
hope this helps.
