FallRutSpringStrut: I asked about where you drew on another thread, but I see now you're in region W. I've never deer hunted there, but I'll be antelope hunting just north of there (antelope area 91). I've heard great things about Area 102 (near Flaming Gorge Res.), but I don't have any details for you there. The good thing for both of you--there's soooo much public land here. You'll run out of time before you'll run out of land.

trealtree--never hunted your area either, and I live in Western Wyoming, but there are quite a few outfitters over that way. It'd cost you, but it may make your time worthwhile considering time off, travel costs, fees, etc.

I have 40,000 private acres I will be hunting on. I called about 100 people from the phone book that live in the area before I got a lead on this ranch. What they are charging is not too bad either for a self guided hunt.

trealtree, if you called a hundred people to get your hunting place, you are a perservering person, and probably fall into the category of "luck has nothing to do with it!" lol
I do a lot of homework, maps, internet, forums, etc., but expect to make very few phone calls once I decide my direction.

My wife and I would take turns. We got into some interesting conversations. Mainly with the older women. My wife ended up giving medical advice etc.. She is an RN, I thought it was fun.

I had a checklist for my wife of questions to ask. One of the questions was "how much land do you own?" She asked this one old lady that and she said "not very much I only own 2 squares" My wife said "What is that like 2 acres" She said no 2 square miles or 1280 acres. :)
