The annual Wounded warrior hunt is off to a bang today, big bucks are moving and several really good deer have been taken. My boss's hunter missed a giant 8 point and killed a doe so far. Im so glad SCI is able to pull off these hunts!

Awesome!!! Thank you for putting on these hunts! And good luck to all! Currently on my way home from Afghanistan right now, my hat is off to my fellow brothers and sisters there, good luck!

Hats off to TWRA and TN Valley Chapter of SCI! They made this happen and I got to spend a good bit of time with these "warriors" this weekend. It really put things in perspective for me. These guys have sacrificed so much more than us civilians can ever imagine, and they are all very modest about their service.

My Hunter got his buck, who was absolutely locked on a doe, at first light this morning. That buck was rutty and stinky which really surprised me for this early. He shot that buck with a 12 gauge slug at 220 yards. I ranged it and he made the shot off sticks. What a hunt

Still haven't understood why they call it wounded warrior. I have seen firsthand at the people who take part in this hunt. I am grateful for their service but their by no means wounded. I wish this was a straight up handicap hunt instead.

I got my first glimpse of how PTSD affects a young man this weekend, and even though he has no visible wounds, he will have to deal with this the rest of his life. I consider that "wounded". That being said, there were many obvious physical conditions.

My 70 year old dad has PTSD from Vietnam and I know how rough it can be on these veterans no matter which war they were in. They deserve these type of events and so much more.

Keep in mind this is a "Wounded Warrior" hunt, not a handicapped hunt. As mentioned, it could be anything from PTSD to vets with bullet wounds. The VAST majority of these participating hever nver been hunting, like ever.

I won't agree with this. Sorry. When the WW advertises on TV wanting donations how are the people shown on there? Amputees or people with severe handicaps. Veterans have priority at Milan, Holston, and Fort Campbell. What hunts are there for real handicapped people?

They sure do. A little sense will make it clear how hard it would be for somebody who's actually handicapped to make it over to go thru the ordeal of registering their guns. It's a joke to me. I would gladly go be a guide if it were for people that need it.

At the fort they do allow and encourage handicapped to take someone with them to help, also will allow use of atv.....I am agreeing with you on that they deserve more, much more. However I am not sure what else could be done. Every situation is different. I have even taken a few to my own private land in the past.

I am really appreciative of our veterans but when a guy tells me all you have to do to get drawn is to have served in the military then I think others could benefit more from such a good hunt. Even juveniles. Either way this is messed up.

It is a great thing Wounded Warriors are doing. Keep up the good work.
We need more people stepping up and doing the same.
Congratulations! on a successful hunt.
