Dunno if this is SOP and I am just ignorant or if this is a useful tip but either way, here ya go.

If your boat winch strap is a few years old, go ahead and replace it.

Backing the boat in the other day and the stitching that holds the strap to the hook broke. Not the strap itself, just the stitching.
Never would have thought about that in a million years.

Anyway, they ain't but about $20 at walmart so if yours is kinda old this might save ya some skeg bendage or possibly much more.
I am just very thankful it didn't break running down the highway at 70 mph, that would have been very bad.

I've had to retrieve two boats that floated off of trailers prematurely. One was my dads. He got out of truck and tied the rope to his trailer. Floated the boat off and pulled up. The rope slowly peeled out of the boat until it plopped in the water. It wasn't tied to the boat. He was just standing there scratching his head.... It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

good topic ruger, or your boat will end up like this.....

For us cheap scapes, the strap can be tied with a good double overhand knot around the hook after the threads rot out. Just saying!

Mine broke a few years ago. Not much fun swimming after a boat. I was lucky it was in July and very warm. Getting in a bass boat from the water is an adventure in it's self.

On a different note, A friend of mine has a Bullet Bass Boat with the remote controlled trolling motor.

Simple process:
Back in the boat let it float off the trailer
Park truck/trailer.
Walk down to dock and activate trolling motor and remote control it to the dock.

This only works if the remote is in your possession. Does not work if remote is laying in boat.

How do you put the trolling motor down with the boat still on the trailer? Does the remote raise and lower the trolling motor also?

Wow. I guess before long I won't even have to go fishing. I can just drive my boat to the lake and send it out on its own. Guess I'll just hang out and mingle with the boat ramp people.

Another reason some bass boats have now topped the $100,000 MSRP mark.

Kinda like pick up trucks with cameras, computers, dvd players etc. in them.
People like me can never own either one.

My wife was giving me hard time because my motor rebuild is going to cost $2200. I took her to the boat center and said "come in I want to show you something". I let her see the price on a 2014 Triton that was sitting in the show room that was $68,000. Now she thinks the $2200 is a bargain.
