Chickasaws are a good variety.

Wild plums produce and are utilized by deer just before bow season--generally late August and early September.

Edward Fort Nurseries. Just bought them as 12 inch or so seedlings for like a buck a piece and grew them out in my nursery to 3-4 ft before moving to the hunting land.I know most folks want bigger trees but I like fooling with stuff.

If thats the case, then as a food source you would be competing against everything nature has to offer, but variety is good.
