Wild Plums

Ive got some Chickasaws. Not producing but growing pretty quick. They will form thickets from root suckers and are kinda thorny.

Chickasaws are a good variety.

Wild plums produce and are utilized by deer just before bow season--generally late August and early September.

I was pondering picking up some. I figured one more food source to keep them moving before bow season.

Steven where did you get your plums? size?

Edward Fort Nurseries. Just bought them as 12 inch or so seedlings for like a buck a piece and grew them out in my nursery to 3-4 ft before moving to the hunting land.I know most folks want bigger trees but I like fooling with stuff.

If thats the case,then as a food source you would be competing against everything nature has to offer,but variety is good.
