Wild antler growth on a spike

I noticed the lower right hindquarter has some skin peeled back. Maybe an injury caused the antler to form like this?

The picture of the picture makes it hard to tell, but that back leg pic kinda looks like there is a tumor. May be an injury to the antler itself that caused it to grow that way, looks like it has a knot just above the eye.
