Considering his recent history of outrageously false statements about deer biology and management intended to increase his own income and protect his past practices, I wouldn't put much faith in anything "Dr. Deer" has to say.

Dr. Deer, in my humble opinion, is right up there with Charlie when it comes to self-promotion and lack of knowledge.

Well, as a former Wisconsinite, I have learned not to trust the DNR. It's nothing but political appointees, liberal professors that hated hunting and created rules and regulations to hamper hunting. I am no a DR Deer fan, but was happy to hear someone other than the DNR was going to look at the deer program. I wish it had been someone more like BSK doing it.

Phone in kill registration - good, do away with the poor population formula - good, not sure how I feel about the extended muzzle loader season since no one I knew muzzle loader hunted.

Redfred16,

I know all about the "deer management wars" up in WI, as well as the "respect" (or lack there of) many in the scientific community have for the WI DNR.

I wouldn't step into that hornets nest for any amount of money. It would be a no win proposition.

the more I read and hear from dr deer mouth the more I don't trust him at all. if you start comparing things that he says to other experts like bsk and others he is a joke and he is a joke imo.

The sad thing is, his book "A Practical Guide to Producing and Harvesting White-tailed Deer" is what got me into deer biology and management. For its time, it was the best resource for the layperson ever written. It introduced QDM harvest principals and data collection to the masses.
