I've only been hunting one day a week this season. Momma needs help raising these two wild injuns.

Anyone else only hunt one day a week?

I've hunted mostly one day a week. Church has taken priority in the last few years. I hunt to far away to hunt and make it on time. But I think I'll go afterwards today

For you guys that hunt once a week...how many deer are you able to take each year? It's tough only hunting once a week during the rut.

I did for many years. I have been blessed the last several years to be in a situation I could hunt many mornings and do my work in the afternoons and nights.

I'm pretty much a once-per-week hunter. I've learned that its far more important to be at home with wife and kids than in the woods. Plus that keeps everyone happy. I'm out East, so take it for what its worth, but I usually take at least one deer a year...sometimes two.

I'm a school teacher & HS basketball coach. Early bow I can usually get 2 days in. Late Oct on its usually just Sat. It's tough to juggle family, work, ball & hunting. But I wouldn't change any of it. I love them all!

How many deer are you able to take a year with this schedule? I'm on a lease in Marshall County.

I don't even hunt once per week. Busy job and 2 boys under 3 doesn't leave much free time.

I try to watch the weather and only hunt really good weather days. Limited opportunities force you to pay just a little bit more attention, and I really think I've learned more because of it.

I hunted 5 times during archery (2 were lousy weather days but I had kitchen passes so I hunted anyway) and I haven't been at all during muzzleloader. But I will likely take off tis Wednesday and hunt this real cold snap.

I have 2 small boys and a busy work/home schedule. I usually don't get to hunt very often at all.
I usually get one deer per year, this year has been am exception though. I have been hunting 3 times this year and killed 4 deer; doubled in two hunts.

I just have to keep my priorities straight now, keeping in mind that when the boys are older we will have plenty of time to hunt together.

On avg I end up with 2 bucks & a doe. This year I have not killed a thing. I had a great place to hunt on the Giles/Marshall boarder but lost it last season. I am now down to 80 acres of mostly open fields & hunted Yanahli during bow season this year for the first time. Not knowing new land has been tough. And with little time to scout. I haven't been able to hunt the last 2 weeks with ball starting up. Although I did get permission to skip church today & sitting in the stand now :)

With a seven year old at home I feel the need to be with she and Mama as much as possible. Yeah, weekends are pretty much it with the occasional unexpected hunt during the week. I usually get enough to fill my freezer( 3 to 4 ) but my daughter helped out this year by killing her first two ever. So I'm just cruising now.

Yea I will be fortunate enough to be on a 4 10 schedule the rest of the year with no kids and an ol lady that doesn't mind as much so I will be out there probably 5 or 6 times a week until I get the 4 deer I'm after.

Couldnt imagine only getting to hunt once or twice a week.

Although I would like to hunt more...it makes each hunt an awesome opportunity.

A couple seasons ago I was out of work and hunted 5 days a week. Honestly it started to get old.

Nice to be cruising before Thanksgiving lol

Yes it is. I got a fat doe last weekend with a bow so one more will take care of us. I'm gonna have an itchy trigger finger with a lot of season left and a full freezer.

Most weeks I get to hunt Saturday mornings. On occasions, I get to go before church on Sundays for a few hours. However, I feel bad being away from the wife and kids on the weekends. My daughter is not into hunting and my son has a few more years before i take him hunting. Here is my thinking, one day the wife and I will be empty nesters and I plan on using hunting to cope with the empty nest syndrome - I'm not looking forward to that.

I have a 3yr old and a 7 week old so I know how it is. Made my second hunt of the year yesterday and luckily was able to put two deer in the cooler. If I can get 10 hunting days in this year I will be happy.

I hunt once a week at most, but I save a few vacation days and use those strategically. My favorite tactic is to use half-days of vacation, so I can get 6 extra hunting trips out of 3 days' worth.

Toughest part is telling yourself not to use up all the time as soon as MZ opens.

I kill 2-3 deer per year on average, but I'm pushing that average up nowadays. My son will be old enough to go some this year or next, too

I average 1-2 days a week. I'm in law school and I also work so my time is pretty limited. I usually kill 3-5 deer a year here in east Tennessee. I've been blessed to kill 6 bucks the past 3 years and hoping to add to that number later this season!

A typical season for me has been 5-6 times in the woods. I've been blessed with a job that pays wells and provides for our family, but it takes up Monday thru Friday. I have a couple hrs each evening with my boys, but our true family time is on weekends. Saturday a.m. is my son's basketball league which started two weeks ago and he will end in march. Sunday a.m. is Sunday school and church. I will sneak away every now and then on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, most times with my 8 yr old in tow.

One good thing about all of this thread is it sounds like we have our priorities strait , God, family, outdoors !
It's killin me it feels like on some days not being out there, but when I see those smiling faces and excitement each day I know it'll go by so fast and it already is. Continue Keeping your priorities and responsibilities strait fellas ! Good job and good luck !

I changed my hunting this year to take up less time and be more productive, with regards to producing food. I only hunt Saturday mornings, and I call it a day by 10:00 am regardless of how the morning goes. This way even if I get a deer I'm back home by noon. If I get a deer, I can start processing while the kids nap. If not, I nap. Either way, I only miss out on four hours of family time (8:00 am when the kids wake up to noon when I get home).

There will be two exceptions to this approach. November 23 I will be going bear hunting. I'll drive east on Friday and home Saturday night.

January 1 I'll be heading to MS to hunt with my grandfather, and I'll be coming home January 4.

My goal is to kill 6 deer this year. I have got 5 to go.
