Saw 1 deer this weekend, very slow here. Heard something walking right at dark tonight.Took this Friday off for a 3 day weekend, starting to wonder if it's going to be any good

Full disclosure and on a more serious note the rut doesn't start getting good till first weekend of rifle where I hunt so it's likely the calm before the storm!!

I have a feeling this weekend will be good hunting with the cold front moving in. Suppose to be low 30's in some areas - maybe first frost? This should have deer moving and hopefully the bucks will be cruising.

I was seeing a lot during bow season. Juv weekend not a peek of a deer. Opening weekend of ML I seen 3 bucks running together Saturday morning, three does Sunday morning. I have been seeing these deer in an area loaded with acorns.
My buddy on the other hand hunting on the west side of our lease hasn't been seeing crap all year but killed a nice buck Sunday morning. He said three bucks were running together.
I did manage to find two nice big rubs and I do believe a mature buck is in the area.

This is my thought to... I'm going to be to sick to work Friday for sure.

UT Grad, i live on a farm in marshall county, about 8 miles from your farm. i watch between 40 and 60 deer every day from the windows in my house. i can tell you without a shadow off a doubt that the rut is not here yet. 2 weeks from now, it will be rolling

Bucks are still paired up on my farm. Saw the big boy and a small buck, who was playing look out for him, Monday evening. Saw a few does and found a few fresh rubs yesterday afternoon. Might be starting to pick up... Especially as someone mentioned after this big cold front headed down this wknd.

I've got 2 buddies that are both tagged out on mature deer. Meanwhile I have seen 2 does and a spike. None of the 4 bucks they killed were chasing, I have never seen it get this bad in my area. During bow season there was several times I saw 12-14 deer in one field at a time. Now nothing

I wasn't until today. I saw 6 does and 3 bucks today between 3:45 pm and 5:00 pm.
I was hunting in a ground blind over my wheat, oat and clover plot. It's about 1/2 acre. The bucks were chasing and grunting. It was real exciting. Must be too early still for the mature bucks (or they know the difference in Tinks and a hot doe)the food plot had a tinks scent bomb hanging in a tree. I sat from 11:30 am and didn't have first sighting until 3:45 pm.
I was situated between two thick bedding areas. It was a great hunt. Hang in there and stay versatile. I had hunted hours without seeing anything but one deer this week in other spots. This was my first hunt in this spot.

I have not seen what I wanted while hunting, but from my breakfast table looking out into my backyard around 8:00 AM this morning (in the suburbs of Brentwood) saw a doe come across my yard at a fast pace ... 30 seconds behind her was a 3 point buck with his nose to the ground ... they passed through my postage stamp yard and held up in some small trees in my neighbors yard. I saw a flash of brown in the neighbors yard behind me, that is divided by some trees and brush, and and a big 8 point busted though the brush between our two yards and the three of them ran out of sight! That was the best action I have seen this season ... but makes me feel like the rut is on in Williamson County.

I have 3 coworkers from Hickman county that have tagged out on some dandies this week. All 3 have been seeing rutting activities. It seems that they always see it a couple weeks before me and I don't hunt 20 minutes from them.

Hunted this AM did not see any deer. Went back this evening had a 6 point in the field to my right. He leaves a few minutes later he shows back up his nose to the ground. Few minutes later he comes out of a thicket chasing a doe. They run off, return with 2 bucks behind her. About 20 minutes goes by they all jump the fence into the little Woodlot I am in. Now there are 3 bucks chasing her the one about 10 seconds back I would have used a tag on but never had a clear vitals shot. When he did stop all but his head and rack were behind some brush. This is the 1st of any kind of chasing I have seen. Only a few rubs and scrapes found and is usually covered with them by now. I am off till monday night hope to catch up with him again.

I've seen two deer in the last two hunts and they were a button buck and a spike so I'me definitely not seeing much.

I killed an 8-pt in Hickman Saturday and he was not chasing not did he stink to the high heavens. My buddy's son killed a buck the Saturday before on the juvenile hunt and he said it stunk something bad. His lease is across the road from mine.

Sat all day in fayette cty on monday, saw nothing. On tuesday morning it was 36 degrees and I saw a 4pt, but then it warmed up fast. Got out of the stand at 1:30pm and it was over 60 degrees. Found heeeeeyuuuuge tracks in one spot. Saw no rubs.

I starred seeing scrapes, made by yearlings, at the end of last week. This week I passed up one of my top-end 3 year olds, within bow range. He was out cruising at 3:30 on monday. Scrape pictures show several 3 year olds during the day. This morning I watched 3 different bucks freshening scrapes. One was a mature, mid 130s, 10 point I couldn't get to stop long enough to draw on. He was out at 10:30. Does are starting to push the fawns away. I imagine the next 7 days are going to be prime for catching the old bucks getting slightly stupid. They are usually locked down by opening of rifle on my place.

I was seeing several a day during bow season, but it's like they all have been abducted into outer space. They're around here somewhere :?:

Young bucks have been pestering pretty bad here last few days, id say inside a week things will get rolling here.

I've only been a couple of times to my favorite place. I'm also ashamed that I did no preseason scouting making an assumption that it would be like it always was....that is plenty of deer sign and acorns as usual. Both are a tad on the sparse side this year. Where I live in Rutherford county there seems to be plenty of mast but just a few miles away near Statesville in Wilson county mast is very spotty. The only deer I've seen was jumped on the way out of the woods on opening day.

I usually see at least one. But yesterday evening was dead as a rock. Didn't help having 3 teen age kids trespassing at 3 pm either. But even next door there were no deer seen where they usually are plenty. However, Fleet Fox told me bucks were running everywhere around 1030 am yesterday morning. Figures nothing moves in the evening then.

This evening on the way to work there were a few deer here and there in the fields, but not back up to the numbers they were a few days ago. I think the next 3 days will get better and luckily I have a lot of time off to hunt. Fingers crossed

Sunday morning I was covered in deer. I killed a doe and nice buck that morning. Haven't seen a deer since then while hunting. I did take my son on a four wheeler ride this evening and saw a really nice buck standing under my tree stand. Makes me excited that things are about to heat up because I haven't ever seen the buck I killed nor the buck I seen this evening before.
