looking about geting a new yote gun this year....I have two, 223. but I have been killing more and more yotes at 250+ yards. Gut shot the last two that I have shot at around 300yrds. thinking about a 243 and I have found one in an A bolt at a good price........or should I get another Rem 700? I thought maybe the wind wouldn't affect a 243 as bad as my 223.....any reccommendations???

Nothing. I dont care if i shoot them in the toe & it takes 3 weeks for them to die....but I do kinda like dropping them in their tracks

A .243 with a 75-85 gr bullet would be awesome. I think that when the .243 was a wildcat caliber it was originally a varmint round. I could be wrong though.

I shoot my .223 at 300 all the time. Gut shots will still kill them. Most of the time it sends them into a death spin while they chase and pull at the wound.

if you are calling them, you shouldnt have to shoot one at 300 yards. most will be shot at less than 60. any lightweight 223 or 22-250 should take care of the wetwork nicely.

Usually not calling them in....we do sometimes....but I,usually shoot them in the fields at my house when I see them.

I shot one in the guts a few weeks ago and never know I,hit him untill he ran 70 yards and piled up.....he didnt even do a ki-yi

Haha thats what I was thinking sometimes no matter how you call it just won't work out for anybody.

I like the 243. One reason is that you can use a 100gn bullet and have a backup deer rifle.

First time I saw it, I had no idea what I was seeing. I just set there kinda dumbfounded. It makes for a heck of a mess when you get to them also.
