Got a little money left over from our tax returns,and thought i'd get me a Eotech for my AR..Been wanting one for a while,and thought i'd finally get one.But dang,there is so many different models.Whats a good all round eotech?

I have the XPS2 model. It is the shortest model EoTech. It has 2 dots plus the quick acquisition ring. It also has numerous lighting settings. It uses the CR123 battery. Very pleased with mine so far.

If your putting it on a rifle, try to find a Bushnell Holosight. It's basically a longer Eotetech, Eotech made them for Bushnell. You can find them used a heck of a lot cheaper than an Eotech branded one. On an AR, another 1.5" shouldn't bother you.
I have the 512 and wish I had gotten the 517.
They are the same thing except the 516 has the buttons on left side of sight instead of the back making it much easier to turn it on and off.
Another thing is both of those use 1.5V aa batteries, to me that's a big difference from the other EOTech scopes. 1.5V aa batteries can be found anywhere and large numbers, ever at a Mom and Pop country store.
