Where to hunt grouse?

Anyone know where a good place to hunt grouse is. I know I have to go to east tn but could use some advice. Should I go on wma? If so which one?

Wisconsin. Pennsylvania. Parts of WV.

Sure, you can find them here but even the best TN or NC pops are at densities that are a tiny fraction of what you'd see further north.

The challenge would be worth it. Just trying to take part in every hunting option I can in Tn. I've had the opportunity to take them in Colorado during elk season but want to punch a tag on one here if possible.

I still come across a few on South Cherokee but nothing like it used to be. High elevation south of the Ocoee river is where I see the most.

I have not seen or heard one in years, but Big South Fork used to hold some.

They're still on North Cumberland WMA. Harder to find than they used to be, but they're there.

In the last five yrs ive seen 3. 2 while deer hunting around Tellico lake and 1 while hiking in the smokies. Each encounter scared the crap outa me. I never see them until they explode out of the ground. Lol
