This is perhaps too vague, but I'd love to know what kind of planning you garden gurus have laid out in advance. How much space you are using, and what specific plants you are planning to raise, maybe even how much space (or number of plants) you are dedicating to each crop.

I'm hoping to get my plan laid out shortly. I tend to overgun in the early phases. Maybe knowing how someone else approaches it will help me rein it in to reasonable levels.

Last year i built a 16x40 greenhouse. Today we added some worm casting to our raised beds inside the GH. We have two 40 foot raised beds and two 16 footers. We planted lettuse and two different types of onions inside today. I tilled the ground outside where we will plant cucumbers and potatoes. I also built a 4'x4' raised bed for potatoes. I want to try growing them in this using sand and sawdust mixture. I plan to try my luck at hydroponic growing. I been buying all the parts and almost have it all. I still need to run power in to the GH. But that sould not take long.

I'm going to give raised beds a try this year. I got some large but shallow crates from work so we're gonna fill them with dirt and give it a try.

I have the hook up on cracked concrete water meter boxes. Our old house I took them 4 long down each side and 2 across the top and bottom. Inside dimension was about 8ftx4ft then I also filled each meter box. Tomatoes, peppers, etc in the meter boxes, spreading plants in the middle. We moved to a different house and plan on doing the same this year.

Nothing like last year. Probably plant some Tomatoes. Our first born will arrive in the middle of harvest season so we are going to take a year off lol

That's very cool! I'm going to try to put in a couple raised beds this year and try them out, possibly for root crops like beets, or maybe something that vines and I could build a support trellis anchored to the walls of the bed.

I'll also be preparing a regular garden bed.

Just want to go in with a good plan.

Here is our 2 aquaponic setup's. Both systems are Chift Pist systems. System 2 is a 55 gallon fish tank 55 gallon sump and 2 27.5 gallon grow beds.

System 1 is a 250 gallon fish tank, 200 gallon sump, and approx 212 gallons of various growbed configurations.

The growbeds will be planted with various heirloom tomato and cucumber maybe some strawberries, will be planting greens and lettuce next week after we get the catfish and media/gravel in.

We plan to grow out around 50 channel catfish in the 250 gallon tank and 10 catfish in the 55 gallon tank. Hopefully the veggies will be abundant. This will be our first year running it and the build of the systems has been very interesting to say the least. We will be shoveling literally 1+ tons of river rock into our grow beds tomorrow.

I'm planning a smallish aquaponics system. I've decided on using shale. I found some pretty cheap and its pretty lite.

Setup looks good.
