When Carroll Lake was re-opened after the spillway failure they listed Walleye as one of the species that can be caught there.
I have never caught one, nor has anyone that I have ever talked to.

I was looking on the TWRA website and seeing what the deal was with the "new" Lake Halford, previously known as the 1,000 acre lake.
Now they list Walleye as one of the species that you can catch there as well.

Lake Halford I can actually see it, as it is a very deep lake with quite a bit of fresh water coming into it.
Carroll Lake, however, is very shallow, normal depth is around 5 feet.

Did they really put them in there or what???

You can technically catch walleye and sauger in a ton of rivers and creeks at some point in the year. Will you? Probably not. But if it's technically a species that exists in a tributary (and they've spotted during electroshock surveys at some point), they list it.

My understanding is that TWRA really did put some walleye fingerlings in the initial stocking of Carroll Lake.

I also didn't think Carroll Lake would be a candidate for walleye surviving much there, as it is a very shallow, warm water, more of a big pond than a lake.

Maybe they just did this as part of an "experiment" to see if ANY would survive at all?
