I'm planning to take a week to bowhunt LBL in November and I can't decide what week would be the best to try to catch the rut. It seems like the 11th through the 15th would be ideal but the first quota hunt would only allow me to hunt till Wednesday of that week. So if it were you, what week would you choose? I'm afraid going the first week may be too early and the week after the gun hunt will be a little late to hit it good.

Looks like the weather will have to be the deciding factor. Right now the long range forecast is saying 70's until the 12th then alot cooler all the way through the 21st

Aren't they shut down?
Due to the lapse in federal government funding, the USDA Forest Service Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, as with other federal agencies, is closed with the exception of certain essential services. However, we will attempt to make timely updates about public health and safety on this website as appropriate. We sincerely regret this inconvenience. For general information on Forest Service shutdown procedures, please visit the USDAs website, www.usda.gov

Campgrounds and welcome stations are closed. Backwoods camping and hunting are still open for now.

I have my best luck the week after the first quota in Nov. It's like the bucks that survived the first quota hunt know it and start moving big time. JMO

The last 2 years I've gone the first week of Nov before the first gun hunt and its seemed like I was there a little early. The shooters didn't appear till the end of the week. Maybe I should just take a weekend trip week after next to see what stage they are in
