Food Plots What to plant?

I've got a few cleared ares in the woods I'm gonna disc up and sew for the fall. What would grow good on rough soil and attract deer. I tried winter wheat last year and it looked really good, but the deer didn't seem to bother it much.

Man if they didn't eat the wheat either not many deer or lots food around.

There's plenty of deer they just didn't feed in it

They got plenty food somewhere else then. You could try oats but if they don't eat wheat I doubt anything would work. You could try fertilizing heavy. I have seen that matter.

Lime and fertilizer would greatly help.

I also get little action on my wheat plots . Tried winter rye last year with no improvement . Best luck I have had is a mix of oats . Wheat . Winter rye . Clover . My soil is has very poor and rocky so there's not much else that will grow on it .

Segregated our wheat from the oats last year. Hardly saw a deer feeding in the wheat until the last weekend of season. They hammered the oats the whole season.
