Are you in the.......
1. If its breathing and in range its dead stage
2. Im gonna wait on a little bit bigger stage
3. Im waiting on an 8 stage
4. Mature stage
5. I really don't feel like fooling with it stage

I find that I vary from hunt to hunt in between 1 and 3. Opening day I will be a 1 for sure.

Pretty sure i'm a stage 5.

Just to much trouble. The work starts when you let that arrow fly.

Must be a good un or a real little one.

It all depends on the frame of mind i'm in at the moment. If the freezer is getting low, i'll probably kill the first deer that comes into range, [except a fawn]. Not that there is anything "wrong" about killing fawns, I have killed my fair share of them in my long hunting career, I just choose not to now. If I have meat, I may decide to just watch and wait untill I see a deer that I want to kill and pass on many deer.
Sometimes I'm just too lazy to have to go through the field dressing, dragging, skinning, quartering and butchering job.
After I have put a couple of deer in the freezer I always try to kill the largest, oldest deer in the area that I am hunting. And beleive me, that doesn't have to be very old or very large. ;)

For a buck, Im in the 3.5 y.o.+ stage. Id like to say mature but a 3.5 is hard enough to kill and I enjoy the challenge of it. For a doe Im a #5.

depending on where I am hunting. Most of the time, I am hoping for #4 stage. If its a buck that makes me happy, I try and tag it! There are places I hunt that I look for freezer fillers!

I'm in stage 0. I nearly shot a squirrel the other day because it was brown. Can't sleep at night. Developing a slight froth around the mouth ... my family's worried.

Im stage one till my blade on my butchering knife dulls up and then if I cant find my sharpener, ill start looking for something bigger.

Opening weekend i am a 4 and try to stay that way all year since my lease is bow only and i no they are some giant's there but i always give in and make a couple does bleed

I'm in the same stage I was in when I started. If it is legal, and I want to kill it, and it gives me a decent shot, and I feel like it, and it does NOT have spots, I am slinging carbon.

Any Doe will do for the freezer, gotta feed the Landowner. I'd like to say that I'm looking for bigger than what's already on the wall, but that might fly out the window in the moment.

There are times when I'm in the "I just poured this cup of coffee and I don't feel like gutting stage" and times where I'm in the "heck yeah that's big enough" stage...mostly, I'm in a "no hurry stage"...

I'm in the hunting for a memory stage. I'd like a deer to die but, not necessarily and I'm not necessarily the one who has to let go of the string or pull the trigger. I've got a pack of kids who help with the memory making.

I'm in the killing my first deer stage so probably gonna go for a wall hanger although I definitely want 2 in the freezer so maybe 1 til that's done then a 4
