I recently purchased a new atv and was curios as to what tires you would recommend. I want something that is pretty smooth on the trail but can handle the mud too. Whats the pros and cons of your atv tires?

My buddy just bought a new Rhino and got some 27" Pirelli Mudweiser's put on it. We tested them out last weekend and they are AWESOME! Better than my ITP 589's on my my old 4-wheeler.

Maxxis as far as I'm concerned. I'm currently running maxxis on my race quad but made the mistake of mixing things up by buying ITP GNCC's for the rears and can't stand them. My quad is ripping off lugs like crazy. I can't wait until they are dead so I can go back to all Maxxis

i would go with 25-27" ITP Mudlites, i have em on my 2002 Polaris sporstman 700 and they work great, smooth on trails and really great for mud, of course they're not the smoothest ride on paved or gravel roads, but if your gonna be doin trails and mud that would be my recommendation

I have 26" maxxis bighorns on my 750 brute force and i am very satisfied with them. there are many good tires out there you just have to decide which ones for you.

Thanks for the comments. I got a Polaris 800 6x6 and the stock 489's are good on the trail but will leave you wanting more in the mud. I was thinking about the STI Mud Trax. Any one have experience with them?

Another vote for the bighorns as long as you aren't planning on serious mudding.

Darn smooth riding tire and simply can't be beat for climbing rocks, tree roots, etc.

If money isn't important, get the Bighorns. If your on a budget, try GBC Dirt Tamers. I hate Mudlites. You will hate them to if you have alot of rocks in your area. Very weak side wall. Go to highlifter.com for alot of tire reviews. You'll read alot of negative reviews on ITP.

Ditto jeepkountry.
I have run factory tires, wooly boogers, Itp mudlites, maxxis, And titans.
My favorites are the titan 589's, but they are out of production.
The mudlites are a great light use trail tire.
The shorter lug tires don't handle the mud as well but seem to last much longer than the taller treads do.
The ride dblaa has got everywhere i ever put it with those tires on it.
But I have seen lots of them with plugs both in the treads and especially in the sidewall.
I'm not familiar with bighorns, but I dread looking for new ties myself so let us know what you decide and how you like what you get!

Go with the Kenda Executioners...... They have stiff sidewalls so you can run low air pressure for grip, have the rim guards to keep things from jabbing between the rim and tire (which also helps against bent rim lips), you can get them in wider sizes for more traction/flotation, and they will take you anywhere you can steer to......

Grizzly, i had never heard of those, but I looked at them and they look almost like a clone of my titan 589's.
Even the bead guard!
i will be having some of those if they are still making them when mine finally give up the ghost.

If your looking for a smooth ride, good traction, and great handling in all conditions, I recommended the Interco Reptile. It's a 6ply radial when run with minimum air pressure is the best I've ever ran.

The rubber is softer than I expected for a 6ply tire but they seem to wear well. I don't do much pavement travel. That's what really wears tires out. I can tell you they have great traction in mud, dirt, and rocks.

yea don't forget to put some slime in them too if you have people around there like i do you might want to put some slime in them i had to do mine a cuple of days ago where they nailed my atv trails but now i got them all protected with some slime in tire i put about 12 onces in each tire on my atv because of some stupid people around here but for 12.99 x 4 bottles is well worth the money for the slime and to keep you on the trails
